Potash Corp. rearranges ammonia supply chain
Potash Corp. said it will adjust its supply chain to use alternate routes when an anhydrous ammonia storage facility in Savannah is closed at the end of the year.
Potash supplies two fertilizer plants in Aurora, N.C. and White Springs, Fla., with ammonia delivered through the PCS Terminal in Savannah. The ammonia is used in the manufacture of phosphate fertilizer.
Potash’s lease on the terminal expires at the end of the year and a spokesman said the company decided it would be more efficient to supply the two factories through other locations rather than seeking a new terminal in Savannah. The Aurora plant will receive ammonia shipped by rail shipped from Potash’s factory in Lima, Ohio. The White Springs factory will receive ammonia delivered by truck from Tampa.
