Proteus puts WMS in the cloud

Proteus Software, warehouse management software (WMS) provider said it has launched a cloud-based warehouse management system (WMS) platform that it says will allow companies to avoid infrastructure expenditure, while increasing warehouse efficiency by up to 50 percent.
The Proteus Cloud WMS allows companies to manage and control their put-away, storing, picking, and shipping of stock, and deploying that WMS as a cloud model means companies can scale it as they expand without much additional investment. UK-based Proteus said it can also be used as a stand-alone system or integrated with existing business accounting and web ordering systems.
Proteus uses the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, a web service that provides adjustable capacity on demand, allowing customers to work through peak times without worrying about making adjustments beforehand.
The company said it provides a high level of flexibility in operations and has reporting capabilities that generate predictive reports for its WMS and attached systems. Its WMS can be integrated with existing ERP and supply chain software for other providers as well as Proteus’ full suite of applications that cover inventory management, sales order processing, purchasing, and financial accounting.
Proteus’ WMS is also a part of the services offered by the Logistics Technology Alliance, which aims to create a control tower and associated applications for an end-to-end logistics and supply chain solution that is cloud-based.
