The terminal operator handled 64.1 million TEUs at its ports around the world in 2015, a 2 percent decline from 2014.
PSA International Pte Ltd (PSA) handled 64.1 million TEUs at its ports around the world in 2015, a 2 percent decline from 2014, the terminal operator said.
Although PSA’s flagship Singapore terminals posted an 8.7 percent year-over-year drop in container throughput in 2015 to 30.62 million TEUs, its terminals outside Singapore saw throughput jump 5.0 percent year-over-year to 33.5 million TEUs.
“Trade in the second half of the year was particularly lackluster, and this added to the pressures that were already building up due to structural shifts such as ship upsizing, sustained overcapacity, changes in liner alliancing, and the effect of prolonged lower oil prices,” PSA CEO Mr. Tan Chong Meng said in a statement.
In addition to flagship operations in Singapore, where PSA operates seven container terminals with 57 berths, the terminal operator also has flagship operations in Antwerp, where it operates five container terminals with 22 berths.
Overall, PSA participates in approximately 40 terminals in 16 countries across Asia, Europe and the Americas.
