PWC Logistics lands food distribution contract with U.S. military
PWC Logistics has been awarded a contract to distribute food and related items to U.S. troops in Kuwait, Iraq and Jordan.
Total value of the contract, which was awarded by the Defense Logistics Agency, may reach up to $14 billion over a five year period, according to the company. The contract begins in December.
PWC, based in Kuwait City, already procures, warehouses and transports subsistence items, including dry goods, frozen foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, and baked items to the U.S. military throughout the Middle East.
The new contract is divided into four time periods, an initial 18-month commitment followed by two back-to-back 12 month and one final 18-month options. For each 12-month period, the contract value may reach up to $2.8 billion. The actual value for each time period will depend on the volume of services required, the company said. Services will be provided by PWC operations located in Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Turkey.
PWC also said it will provide supporting logistics services in Afghanistan.
