Starting next month, the Middle Eastern airline is introducing its fifth freighter destination to the Americas this year.
Qatar Airways Cargo will launch a freighter service to Pittsburgh next month.
Qatar Airways Cargo will offer a freighter service to
Pittsburgh, Penn. next month, the fifth freighter destination in the
Americas added in 2017, the airline said in a statement.
The airline will utilize B777F freighters on the service to transport manufactured
goods including heavy electronics, and pharmaceuticals, adding an estimated 200
metric tons of weekly capacity to Pittsburgh.
“The new
Doha-Luxembourg-Atlanta-Pittsburgh-Luxembourg-Doha route will not only connect
Pittsburgh with European markets via [Qatar]’s European hub in Luxembourg, but
also link trade businesses in Asia and Middle East through an easy transit at
its state-of-the-art home base in Doha, Qatar,” said the airline.
Qatar Airways Cargo currently transports over 100 metric tons of
bellyhold cargo weekly on the A350 passenger flights to
Philadelphia, Penn., according to company data. The airline transports cargo to 17 destinations in the Americas, from Canada to Ecuador.
