RedLine, Junction partner on produce tracking

RedLine Solutions, a provider of produce tracking solutions, and Junction Solutions, which offers market-specific and on-demand software to the food and beverage and multi-channel retail sectors, are partnering to eliminate the manual link between field labeling and a company’s mainline ERP system.
The firms said this will make for an easier and more efficient “field-to-fork enterprise solution” compliant with the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI).
PTI is an industry initiative requiring every case of packed produce to display a label with a lot number and global trade identification number (GTIN) in both barcode and human-readable formats.
As part of this partnership, an interface will be developed to integrate Junction’s JunctionFB with RedLine Field.
JunctionFB provides grower accounting, lot trace, scheduling, inventory management, trade promotion management and direct store delivery. It can also provide field-to-fork traceability by tracking a lot, forward and backward in time, from the time of harvest, through the entire supply chain and all the way to the store shelf, in minutes. JunctionFB’s integration with RedLine Field is expected to be available to customers by mid-2013.
RedLine Field enables grower-shippers to meet traceability labeling requirements for field-packed items. The system generates case and bin barcode labels for field and shed packed items, maintains traceability information, and feeds the data into the ERP or grower accounting system. RedLine Field uses barcode technology to print and capture GTIN and lot data at the time of harvest and maintains this information throughout that item’s manufacturing and supply chain lifecycle, RedLine said.
