Redwood expands logistics investment in Japan

The industrial real estate developer has started construction on two logistics projects in Japan’s Osaka market.

Industrial real estate developer Redwood Group has started construction on two logistics project developments in Japan’s Osaka market, valued at more than $1 billion.
The two new distribution centers – Redwood Nanko and Higashi Osaka – are located in the bay area of Nanko Naka and inland at Fujiidera, respectively, providing shippers with coverage to the greater Osaka market. The two Redwood Nanko warehouses will combine for 250,000 square meters of storage, while the Higashi Osaka facility will include 150,000 square meters of space. Construction of the DCs will start this year, Redwood said.
Redwood has partnered with Diamond Realty Management (a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corp.), Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank and Shinsei Bank to finance the projects. The company has been building DCs in Osaka for the past 15 years.
Redwood has also started construction on its Chibakita DC, located in Chiba of Greater Tokyo. The four-story, 36,944-square-meter facility for DAIWA Co. will be finished by the end of March 2016, the company said.
