Rinchem buys Taiwanese logistics firm

The chemical logistics company, Rinchem Co., plans to use the acquisition to support its growing Asia-Pacific business.

   Rinchem Co. has acquired Chimei Logistics Corp., a Taiwan-based warehouse, transportation and freight forwarding services provider in the Asia-Pacific region. 
   Rinchem, a chemical logistics services firm in Albuquerque, N.M., plans to use the acquisition to support its expanding customer base in South Korea, Japan, China, Singapore and Taiwan.
   Prior to the acquisition, Chimei Logistics was a subsidiary of Chimei Corp.
   The acquisition includes a 36,000-square-foot distribution facility located within a few miles of the Tainan Science Park and within 50 miles of the port of Kaohsiung, the largest port in Taiwan. The acquisition also includes the transfer of employees, a ground transportation fleet, freight forwarding assets, logistics information systems and more than 193,000 square feet of property, Rinchem said.
