Ro-ro terminal opens at Melbourne

Melbourne International RoRo & Automotive Terminal (MIRRAT), a subsidiary of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Terminal Holdings, has opened its new auto-handling terminal at Australia’s Port of Melbourne.

   Melbourne International RoRo & Automotive Terminal (MIRRAT), a subsidiary of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Terminal Holdings, has opened its new auto-handling terminal at Australia’s Port of Melbourne.
   The terminal, which has been in development for the past 18 months, includes 4,800 automotive laydown bays, 20,000 square meters for wash bays, a 120-ton gantry crane, and dedicated inspection zones. 
   In 2018, the facility will expand to include three vessel wharves and additional laydown area which will allow it to handle 1 million roll-on/roll-off units annually.
