RoadOne creates agent drayage and brokerage business

RoadOne IntermodaLogistics said its QLS Logistic Services affiliate had acquired US Intermodal, which will serve as foundation for a new coast-to-coast agent drayage and brokerage business called US IntermodaLogistics.
The business currently has locations in Chicago, Norfolk, Va., and New Jersey.
Mark Pontarelli, the owner of US Intermodal, will remain at the company and fill the role of vice president of agent partner solutions for US IntermodaLogistics. He will be responsible for establishing and building a new agent network throughout the United States.
“This new agent model provides the opportunity to effectively expand our
current ‘company store’ intermodal drayage service by increasing our
reach into new markets, as well as supporting established markets. We
believe this is a further indication of our commitment to being a single
source solution for customers,” said Ken Kellaway, chief executive officer of RoadOne
IntermodaLogistics.
David McLaughlin, chief operating officer of RoadOne IntermodaLogistics, said “US IntermodaLogistics will purchase shared services from RoadOne including: sales and marketing support, financial assistance, insurance, equipment purchasing programs, and back office support.”
RoadOne IntermodaLogistics, based in Boston, was launched January by Kellaway and McLaughlin, who have been working together since 1993 when they joined forces to run Kellaway Intermodal & Distribution Systems.
RoadOne offers port and rail container drayage, terminal operations, dedicated truckload solutions, transloading, warehousing and distribution solutions nationwide. RoadOne operates in over 40 locations with 1,000 drayage tractors throughout key intermodal locations across North America. – Chris Dupin
