RSPA PREPARES FOR INTERNATIONAL HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TRANSPORT MEETINGS
The U.S. Transportation Department’s Research and Special Programs Administration will hold a meeting with industry to prepare for two international meetings on the safe transport of hazardous materials.
The meeting will be held on June 19 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at DOT headquarters in Washington. It will be held in conjunction with the Coast Guard’s public meeting of the Dangerous Goods, Solid Cargoes and Containers Subcommittee to be held that afternoon.
Topics to be covered during the RSPA meeting are global harmonization of classification criteria; criteria for environmentally hazardous substances; intermodal requirements for the transport of solids in bulk containers; harmonized requirements for compressed gas cylinders; classification of individual substances; requirements for packaging used to transport hazardous materials; requirements for infectious substances; and hazard communication requirements.
