There has been a development in the world of cold chain acquisition. Carrier Global Corp. has entered into an agreement to acquire Sensitech, the Monitoring Solutions business of Berlinger & Co. AG. Berlinger specializes in customized solutions for monitoring temperature-sensitive goods.

Bhasker Kaushal, vice president and general manager, Sensitech and refrigeration aftermarket, said in a Morning Star article: “Digitization, sustainability, and automation are transforming pharma supply chains and driving adoption of real-time monitoring and cloud-based solutions. Sensitech and Berlinger share a common vision and focus on innovation, and through this combination we will deliver comprehensive and differentiated monitoring solutions that deliver patient safety, supply chain efficiency and sustainability outcomes for our customers. We look forward to welcoming the Berlinger team to Carrier and Sensitech.”

It’s not delivery, it’s Digiorno, and it’s hopping on the summer blockbuster bandwagon. This summer the frozen pizza giant is teaming up with Marvel Studios to release four new frozen pizzas all themed to the new movie “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The new pizzas, with the exception of Spicy Wolvie Pie, will have a cut-out Deadpool mask.

The four new flavors are:

  • The Wade Special: A sweet and salty combo made with pineapple and black olives to pay homage to Wade Wilson’s pizza in the first movie.
  • Gimme Chimi: A chimichanga-inspired pizza with spicy cumin sauce, beef topping, jalapeno, and cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
  • Spicy Wolvie Pie: Crafted with Wolverine and other meat lovers in mind, this pie is stacked with pepperoni, chorizo and bacon.
  • Maximum Pep: The Maximum Pep has sliced and diced pepperoni.

“DiGiorno is always looking for ways to tap into mainstream culture by pushing culinary boundaries through unique innovations and flavors, from our recent Thanksgiving Pizza to our all-onion ‘cry-pie,’ and we are now introducing our latest, most chaotic pies yet,” Kimberly Holowiak, senior brand manager for DiGiorno, said in a statement.

SONAR Ticker: ROTVI.DAL, ROTRI.DAL

Summer volatility heats up in Dallas as the Reefer Outbound Tender Reject Index continues to yo-yo throughout the month of June. The ROTRI has only increased 30 basis points week over week, but throughout the week that’s where the changes come in. Outbound tender rejections are hanging out around 10%-12%. That’s a sign that the spot market is not to be slept on, as rejections that are consistently above 7%-10% indicate spot rates are higher than contracted rates. Reefer outbound tender volumes, on the other hand, aren’t as strong as they were in May, but with the official start of summer combined with the fast-approaching Fourth of July holiday, those levels could increase.
