Ryder bringing on new chief financial officer

Scott Parker will succeed Art Garcia, who is retiring at the end of April.

Ryder System Inc., a provider of commercial fleet management, dedicated transportation and supply chain solutions, has appointed Scott T. Parker as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Parker will be responsible for Ryder’s financial management functions, including finance and audit, treasury, tax, accounting, corporate strategy and investor relations. He succeeds Art A. Garcia, who announced his retirement in September.
Parker, who also will serve as a member of Ryder’s executive leadership team, will join the company April 5 and will be based at the global headquarters in Miami.
Ryder Chairman and CEO Robert E. Sanchez said Parker has a “proven track record of successfully driving top-line growth and improved profitability. His extensive financial expertise, along with his strategic mind-set, will help take us to the next phase of our growth strategy in the constantly evolving transportation and logistics industry.”
Since November 2015, Parker has served as EVP and CFO for consumer finance company OneMain Financial. Prior to that, he was CFO of CIT Group Inc. He also was CFO and chief operating officer for Cerberus Operations & Advisory Company.
Parker also spent more than 15 years in leadership roles within the industrial and financial services businesses at General Electric, including as CFO of GE Capital Solutions from 2005 to 2006.
As part of the planned succession process, Garcia will continue in the CFO role until April 5. He then will serve as a special adviser to the CEO until his retirement on April 30.
