RYDER SYSTEM BUYS CONTROL OF ASCENT LOGISTICS
Ryder System Inc., a truck-leasing company and transportation facilitator based in Miami, has acquired a controlling interest in Ascent Logistics, based in Singapore.
A five-year-old, privately held company, Ascent’s principal customers are in electronics, branded goods, and pharmaceuticals.
“We’ve been serving a number of global customers in Asia,” said Gregory T. Swienton, who will become Ryder’s chief executive officer on Nov. 1. “Ascent will help us increase our scope in the Asian market.”
