Ryder to manage Chrysler’s Mexico cross dock at Altamira

The 3PL will feed parts from Europe to Chrysler’s assembly plant in Mexico.

Ryder System was picked by Chrysler de Mexico to manage a cross-dock operation at the Port of Altamira, feeding parts from an overseas supplier to the automaker’s assembly plant in Mexico.
Under the agreement, Ryder will receive ocean containers from two Italian consolidation points, handle the customs process, and transload the shipments into trailers for delivery to the plant.
Ryder’s services are supported by EDI (electronic data interchange) that connects Ryder, Chrysler and the supplier. “This system enables Ryder to seamlessly share information with customs brokers, transportation partners and the Chrysler assembly plant, improving visibility and ensuring quality, timely delivery,” the logistics services provider said.
Ryder has extensive operations throughout Mexico, including more than 3.1 million square feet of warehouse and about 3.7 million square feet of yard space, and handles more than 3,000 cross-border freight movements between the U.S. and Mexico each week.
