SAFMARINE, LLOYD TRIESTINO TO PART ON MED/SOUTH AFRICA TRADE
After over 20 years of partnership in the Mediterranean/South Africa
trade, Safmarine Container Lines and Lloyd Triestino have agreed to separate their
respective services by early June.
Lloyd Triestino’s takeover by Evergreen Line in
October last year, followed by SCL’s recent purchase by Maersk Line’s parent A.
P. Moller, has spurred the realignment of what now appears to be a rather awkward
transhipment arranangement via Las Palmas, covering West Africa as well as South Africa
from the Mediterranean.
