Savi RFID approved for Chile
Savi Technology, the Lockheed Martin subsidiary that provides radio-frequency identification technology for intermodal shipping and other purposes, has received certification from Chile's oversight agency for telecommunications to offer RFID tags and readers there.
The certification from Chile's Subsecretaria de Telecomunicaciones was one of three international certifications announced Tuesday by Savi. The other countries are Taiwan and Malaysia.
Savi said the certifications 'pave the way for further global expansion' of its active RFID networks, which monitor the location, security and environment of cargo containers.
'Businesses in Taiwan, Malaysia and Chile recognize the economic and strategic value of standardized RFID, and certification facilitates our ability to help make the supply chains there more efficient and secure,' said Fraser Jennings, Savi's vice president of standards and regulatory activities.
