SCFI barely moves from last week

The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index ticked up 2.3 percent from last week, with rates from Shanghai to Northwest Europe, the Mediterranean and the United States remaining fairly stagnant.

   The Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) ticked up 2.3 percent from last Friday’s reading of 776.93 to a reading of 795.16.
   From Shanghai to Northwest Europe, rates rose 0.8 percent, from $755 per TEU to $761 per TEU, while from Shanghai to the Mediterranean, rates slipped 1.2 percent, from $565 per TEU to $558 per TEU.
   Rates from Shanghai to the United States were practically flat, with rates to the U.S. West Coast inching up 0.2 percent, from $1,914 per FEU to $1,917 per FEU. Rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast rose 0.1 percent, from $2,563 per FEU to $2,565 per FEU.
