Spot container rates from Shanghai to Europe, the Mediterranean and the United States all recorded modest declines since last Friday, according to the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index.
The Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index dropped 2.1 percent since last Friday’s reading of 897.28 to a reading of 878.27, with the index experiencing modest declines on major trades from Shanghai to Europe, the Mediterranean and the United States.
Since last week, rates from Shanghai to Europe fell 0.4 percent, from $935 per TEU to $931 per TEU, while rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean declined 1.2 percent, from $859 per TEU to $849 per TEU.
Meanwhile, from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast, rates fell 1.2 percent since last week, from $1,661 per FEU to $1,641 per FEU, while rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast declined 1.5 percent, from $2,661 per FEU to $2,620 per FEU.
