Spot container rates from Shanghai to Europe, the Mediterranean and the United States all increased since last week, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI).
The Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) showed continued growth in container spot rates this week, ticking up 2.9 percent since last Friday’s reading of 858.60 to a reading of 883.59.
Since last week, spot rates from Shanghai to North Europe inched up 0.6 percent, from $907 per TEU to $912 per TEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean rose 3.2 percent, from $772 per TEU to $797 per TEU.
Meanwhile, spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast jumped 6.5 percent since last week, from $1,457 per FEU to $1,552 per FEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast increased 3 percent, from $2,761 per FEU to $2,843 per FEU.
