SCFI slips 1.3%

While spot rates from Shanghai to Europe and the Mediterranean remained relatively unchanged since last week, rates from Shanghai to the U.S. trades had declined, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index.

   The Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index fell 1.3 percent since last Friday’s reading of 883.59 to a reading of 871.76 today.
   Since last week, spot rates from Shanghai to Europe inched up 0.2 percent, from $912 per TEU to $914 per TEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean slipped 0.8 percent, from $797 per TEU to $791 per TEU.
   Meanwhile, spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast fell 4.3 percent since last week, from $1,552 per FEU to $1,486 per FEU, while spot rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast declined 2.4 percent, from $2,843 per FEU to $2,775 per FEU.
