Rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean, which hold a 10 percent weight on the index’s overall reading, fell 6.3 percent from last Friday to $738 per TEU.
The Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) fell 2.8 percent from last Friday’s reading of 884.95 to a reading of 860.48.
Rates from Shanghai to Northwest Europe fell 4.7 percent, from $958 per TEU to $913 per TEU, while rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean dropped $6.3 percent, from $788 per TEU to $738 per TEU.
Meanwhile, rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast slipped 2.2 percent, from $2,034 per FEU to $1,990 per FEU, while rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast dropped 1.5 percent, from $2,836 per FEU to $2,793 per FEU.
