CANADAÆS AMBASSADOR TO U.S. BULLISH ON BORDER IMPROVEMENTS
Schenker Aeroparts Systems, the global air and space industry product of Essen, Germany-based Schenker AG, and Air France Express, the express subsidiary of Air France, have set up a joint operation to provide global air express services across the Air France, Skyteam alliance and Schenker networks.
Schenker will have access to Air France’s 14,000-square-meter express warehouse in Paris with five staff dedicated to Schenker’s business. The sorting system at the facility handles about 6,000 parcels an hour, and provides cargo tracking and barcoding.
“We can obtain a 99 percent level of performance, and put an AOG (aircraft on ground) shipment on the plane 30 to 40 minutes before take off,” said Patrick Boy, global product manager for Schenker Aeroparts Systems. “Then Schenker Aeroparts Systems can also centralize its AOG operations from Paris/Charles de Gaulle Airport for all our customers, using the joint Schenker-Air France Express organization like a hub, even if until the last minute we can still choose a more adequate solution to meet occasional customer’s requirements.”
