SCHENKER OPENS LOGISTICS CENTER IN ROTTERDAM
Schenker AG, the German forwarding and logistics group, has opened a 50,000-square-meter logistics center in the port of Rotterdam.
The new Schenker Integrated Logistics Center is located in the Distripoort of the Botlek area of the Dutch port.
The facility features almost 20,000 square meters for storage and warehousing, with three-level pallet shelving systems that can accommodate up to 34,000 pallets. About 4,000 square meters is reserved for cross-docking. Maritime containers are loaded and unloaded in the LCL center.
For air freight, the facility includes an all-weather loading bay with a hydraulic lift for containers and pallets.
Schenker said the intermodal center in Rotterdam interfaces between seagoing vessels and inland waterways, with direct access to Central Europe’s highway network and with links to Amsterdam Schiphol international airport.
