The ocean carriers, which offer liner service to Puerto Rico and Alaska, will henceforth be known as TOTE Maritime, according to a statement from the companies.
Sea Star Line, which operates a liner service between Jacksonville, Fla. and Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, as well as Totem Ocean Trailer Express, which offers liner service between Tacoma and Anchorage, are rebranding themselves as TOTE Maritime and have a new website, totemaritime.com.
Both companies offer two sailings per week on their respective services.
TOTE has two brand new containerships under construction at General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. in San Diego that will be powered with liquefied natural gas (LNG), and are scheduled to enter the Puerto Rico service later this fall and in the first quarter of 2016. In addition, the two trailer ships that operate in the Alaska trade are also scheduled to be retrofit so they can run on LNG.
Both companies are part of the Saltchuk conglomerate.
