SEA-STAR LINES DENIES RATE UNDERCUTTING CHARGES
Sea Star Lines LLC has denied charges that it undercut rates in the
U.S./Puerto Rico trade in order to drive out competition.
The charges were filed with the U.S. Surface Transportation Board by
Trailer Bridge Inc.
Sea Star’s attorney Paul M. Heylman said that the shipping line offers a
totally different level of service than Trailer Bridge, and that Sea-Star
has diverted cargo from all of its competitors and different modes.
Sea Star operates two fast combination roll-on/roll-off,
lift-on/lift-off ships between Jacksonville and San Juan and Port
Everglades and San Juan.
Trailer Bridge operates a motor carrier/water intermodal trailerload
service between Puerto Rico and interior U.S. mainland markets.
