Sea Star orders new reefer containers

Sea Star Line has placed an order for 100 new 40-foot and 50 45-foot refrigerated containers.
The order comes in the third year of a five-year plan that aims to reduce the average age of Sea Star’s reefer box fleet to less than three years old. Sea Star operates between the U.S. mainland, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
The new reefer containers, which are expected to arrive at the Blount Island Terminal in Jacksonville, Fla., later this year, will be equipped with Carrier Transicold PrimeLine technology. The company has also outfitted its reefers with its StarGuard remote monitoring system to provide visibility while in transit.
