The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Monday advanced the nomination of Mike Pompeo to be Secretary of State by a vote of 11-9.
Pompeo is currently director of central intelligence.
A final Senate floor vote on whether to confirm Pompeo is expected this week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., indicated in a statement released Monday.
