Senate confirms Darling as FMCSA administrator

The Senate on Friday confirmed Scott Darling to be the next administrator of the U.S. Transportation Department’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

   The U.S. Senate on Friday confirmed Scott Darling as the next administrator of the U.S. Transportation Department’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
   Darling has served as the FMCSA acting administrator for the past 11 months. Before that, he was the agency’s chief counsel since 2012, and acting administrator from August 2014 to March 2015.
   Prior to joining the FMCSA, he was deputy chief of staff and assistant general counsel for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority from 2009 to 2012, along with the environmental and land use counsel for the MBTA from 2005 to 2008.
