CaroTrans introduces direct LCL service from New York to Helsinki, Port of Duluth-Superior welcomes the first ocean vessel of 2015 season, and Yusen Logistics improves electronics logistics facility.
Non-vessel operating common carrier and ocean freight consolidator CaroTrans will commence a new weekly less-than-container load service from New York to Helsinki, Finland April 20, 2015.
According to a statement from the company, Helsinki is a key hub for consolidations into Northwestern Russia, and the new direct service will reduce costs and delays related to transshipment of cargo moving via adjacent ports in Northern Europe.
CaroTrans and regional NVO partner Nordicon provide comprehensive logistics resources including a fully integrated domestic trucking network, warehouse services at each port and advanced IT resources such as their e-cargo release for expedited freight discharge. The two companies also offer direct export services from New York to Oslo; Chicago, Houston and New York to Gothenburg; and import services from Gothenburg to Chicago and New York.
The Port of Duluth-Superior on Monday welcomed its first oceangoing vessel of the 2015 commercial shipping season. The 465-foot bulker Kom is loading 12,100 metric tons of grain at two terminals. It began its voyage in LaCoruna, Spain, and traveled through the 2,342 miles Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway.
PT. Yusen Logistics Solutions Indonesia has improved a 650-square-meter temperature-controlled storage area in its 20,000-square-meter warehouse in Bekasi, a suburb of Jakarta.
The storage area provides logistics services, including stock storage and packing, as well as distribution processing, for electronic and electrical equipment which require temperature-control management. The facility also houses automotive and chemical products.
