Service Announcements: ClassNK, Delhi Airport and Schiphol Airport, and ContainerPort Group

ClassNK establishes Global Research and Innovation Center in Singapore, Delhi Airport and Schiphol Airport sign MoU to promote cargo trade, and ContainerPort Group opens new terminal in Atlanta.

   ClassNK has established a new Global Research and Innovation Center (GRIC) in Singapore. The classification society said in a statement the GRIC will primarily cover two main sectors of research.
   Maritime technologies will encompass research and development of new technologies and improving existing technologies in the fields of safe/smart ships such as condition-based monitoring technology, and eco-technology in areas like alternative fuel engines and emission control.
   Marine renewable energy will establish a marine energy test site for the tropics to support research and development in energy storage systems, biofouling materials, energy converters, prototype design testing, and possibilities for maritime industry energy usage in ports and harbors.

   Delhi Airport and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate and promote cargo trade between the two regions.
   The MoU includes business promotion, product development, knowledge sharing, training, performance benchmarking and regulatory agency cooperation, and is intended to enhance India’s logistic capabilities at a global level.
   I Prabhakara Rao, CEO of DIAL, the GMR Group-led consortium that owns Delhi Airport said at the signing ceremony in Delhi that the group aims “to make Indian trade much more competitive in the global market.”
   Enno Osinga, SVP Cargo at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, echoed the sentiments, saying, “Amsterdam can be a Global Gateway for Indian goods destined for mainland Europe, as well as other markets including the USA, Africa and Latin America; Schiphol offers 319 destinations in 95 countries across the Globe. We will build a trade lane between Amsterdam and Delhi, making Delhi a hub and a global gateway.”

   Motor carrier and terminal services provider ContainerPort Group, Inc. has opened its newest transportation terminal in Atlanta, Ga. The terminal was previously in operation as a division of Delta Express for 12 years, and existing customers have been transitioned to CPG.
   The facility features an 8-acre terminal centrally located to rail ramps for BNSF, CSX, FEC and NS, 20 experienced owner/operator trucking professionals that have moved from Delta Express to CPG, intermodal regional trucking services, specializing in ISO boxes, mounted container storage, and access to the SACP chassis pool.
