Service Announcements: CSX, Toll Group, AFFLINK and R+L Carriers

CSX designates Ocala/Marion County Commerce Park a CSX Select Site, Toll acquires ODT Australis, AFFLINK partners with 3M and R+L Carriers relocates service center.

CSX Corporation designated a portion of the 489-acre Ocala/Marion County Commerce Park in Ocala, Fla. as a CSX Select Site, the first in the state.
A rail spur will connect the 83-acre site on the eastern edge of the industrial park to the Florida Northern Railroad’s mainline, located just over one-half mile to the east.
The Select Site program, introduced in 2012, identifies and vets locations for future manufacturing facilities along the CSX network. These sites can be developed quickly since the company has already addressed standard land use issues and performed comprehensive due diligence. Sites are screened in partnership with site selection consulting firm The Austin Company.

Logistics provider Toll Group, which was recently acquired by Japan Post for a reported $5.1 billion, purchased the Australian mining and industrial services provider ODT Australis. Terms of the sale were not disclosed, but the acquisition is expected to take effect in April and generate approximately $24 million in additional annual revenues, according to a statement from Toll.
Approximately 110 current ODT employees will transfer to Toll in April. Five employees will remain with ODT to operate the company’s pastoral management operations in Andamooka, Purple Downs, Roxby Downs and Stuart Creek, which were not included in the acquisition.
ODT supplies industrial services and logistics support to the Olympic Dam mine in Roxby Downs, South Australia, owned by BHP Billiton, as well as others within the state.

AFFLINK partnered with the Industrial Adhesives and Tape Division of 3M, effective Jan. 1, 2015.
According to a statement from the supply chain management company, the partnership “will pay dividends to all parties for years to come.” It will include participation in AFFLINK’s web-based cost management program elev8, the New Latitudes merchandising incentive program, rebate and growth programs, and access to all 3M industrial tapes, 3M-Matic equipment, and the Combi Packaging Systems.

R+L Carriers is relocating its Elgin, Ill., service center to Janesville, Wisc., to expand its capabilities serving the Canada market to and from nine western Canada service centers. The new facility provides easy access to I-90 and I-43.
