Ethiopian Airlines extends partnership with Liège Airport and ISS Palumbo U.K. acquires project cargo forwarder, while DFW International Airport opens Logistics Center I and CMA CGM opens a new agency in Cambodia.
Ethiopian Airlines and Liège Airport in Belgium have extend their partnership for another five years. Liège Airport has been serving as Ethiopian’s main European cargo hub since 2008 for Ethiopian flower exports to the European market and the import of high value goods into Africa. The airline currently operates three Boeing 777-200 freighters to Liège daily during the peak season.
ISS Palumbo U.K., part of Inchcape Shipping Services, has acquired U.K. project cargo forwarder Union Transport (Newcastle) Ltd. The forwarder works with shippers such as ENI, Saipem, and Air Products. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
DFW International Airport and joint venture developers Hillwood Investment Properties and Perot Development Co. officially opened the Logistics Center I in Coppell, Texas, near the airport on Thursday. The plus-1-million-square-foot, cross-dock facility will focus on shippers with e-commerce distribution requirements, and includes more than 200 dock doors, 550 car parking positions and 500 trailer storage positions.
The facility was built on speculation and based on market analysis, the companies said. The developers also expect to break ground later this year on Logistics Center II, an adjacent facility that is planned for 1,015,560 square feet of cross-dock distribution space, on another 60 acres.
French liner carrier CMA CGM has opened a new agency in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
