HMM taps Inchcape for Australian liner business, Pilot Freight Services sets revenue record in 2014, Reddaway and Troy Container Line start new services, Northwest Innovation Works relocates its corporate headquarters and CMA CGM opens two new offices.
The ocean liner carrier Hyundai Merchant Marine has selected marine cargo and supply chain solutions provider Inchcape Shipping Services to handle its container business in Australia.
The partnership goes into effect Feb. 1, 2015 and will be headquartered in a joint St Leonards, Australia office.
HMM and ISS assured their customers in a statement “that it will be ‘business as usual’ from 1st February with the full range of services maintained.”
Pilot Freight Services closed out 2014 as the best year in company history in terms of revenue.
The transportation and logistics provider recorded revenues of $547.9 million in 2014, 12 percent more than Pilot’s previous high of $500.6 million set in 2012.
Pilot saw year-over-year growth in its home delivery and international units of 22 percent and 12 percent, respectively. The company said in a statement its revenue growth was supported by further development of the Pilot’s logistics offerings.
Richard Phillips, chief executive officer of Pilot said “Our growth last year was driven by a focus on our main area of strength: moving heavy-weight, expedited freight. In addition to manufacturing and retail companies, which have always been a big piece of our customer base, we made real strides this year in verticals like automotive and aviation. This strategy has really paid off for us, as has our decision to expand into additional North American locations, including Vancouver and Mexico City.”
Reddaway has started a new guaranteed Friday-to-Monday service, accelerating Friday two-day shipments to next-day delivery on Monday by 3:30 p.m. This new service benefits shippers who are now using second-day lanes and need to speed up their delivery time, the Tualatin, Ore.-based subsidiary of YRC Worldwide said.
Non-vessel-operating common carrier Troy Container Line has started a new direct less-than-containerload export service from Chicago to Dubai. Troy said it expects continued demand as a full service NVO services provider to Dubai, and will develop services in new trade lanes as demand requires.
Northwest Innovation Works will relocate its corporate offices to Port of Kalama on the Columbia River in Southwest Washington.
The company said its decision to lease the 6,000 square-foot office space from the port was driven largely by the future construction of its methanol manufacturing plant in Kalama, which was approved by the Port of Kalama commission in April 2014.
According to a statement from NWIW, the methanol produced at its facilities “will be exported to global markets, including China, where it will be used to make olefin, a compound used in the production of many every day products.”
The three-year lease agreement becomes effective on Feb. 1, 2015.
CMA CGM, in partnership with Al Faya Shipping Agency LLC, has opened a new agency in Muscat, Oman. The French liner carrier also opened a new branch office in Constantine, Algeria.
