MOL car carrier rescues fishermen and CEVA Logistics wins FIAMM contract in Italy.
Ocean liner carrier Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) said on Feb. 1 an MOL-operated car carrier discovered and safely rescued five fishermen, who had been drifting since their fishing boat began to sink earlier that morning.
The Astral Ace, en route from Singapore to Laem Chabang, Thailand found the castaways near Malay Peninsula in the South China Sea. According to MOL, two of the fishermen were Malaysian and the other three were from Indonesia. All five were turned over to the Malaysian Maritime Rescue Coordination Center following the rescue.
Global supply chain service provider CEVA Logistics has won a two-year contract to distribute batteries and air horns throughout Italy for FIAMM. The Italian manufacturer’s products are used in automotive and industrial applications.
CEVA estimates it will move about 19,000 shipments totaling 43 million kilos per year to FIAMM customers.
