SHIPLOGIX FINDS BACKING, NAMES SENIOR EXECUTIVES

   ShipLogix, a Web-based application service provider for shippers, carriers, third-party providers and business-to-business marketplaces, has secured first-round funding and has named several senior executives.

   The Hudson, Ohio-based company received $15 million in capital funding from an investment consortium comprising Odeon Capital Partners, The Goldman Sachs Group Inc., VantagePoint Venture Partners and StartingPoint Venture Partners.

   The company is co-founded by Tom Escott, former president and chief executive officer of Caliber Logistics (now FedEx Logistics), and DotCom Technologies principals Greg and Jamie Cain.

   The management team comprises Escott as CEO, Greg Cain as Chief Technology Officer; Jamie Cain as chief strategic officer; Greg Cullinan as vice president of sales and marketing; Michelle Halkerston, vice president of product strategy; Dave Krause as chief financial officer; Jimi Para as vice president of strategic alliances; and Dan Vaeth, director of consulting services.

   Cullinan was vice president of retail and consumer product services for FedEx Logistics since 1994. Halkerston oversaw e-commerce initiatives for Cole National and was director of electronic commerce strategy for Caliber Logistics as well as director of logistics for Penske Logistics. Krause was vice president of finance and administration for Caliber and director of capital budgeting and cash management for Caliber Systems. Para was vice president, information technology at FedEx Logistics for three years. Vaeth was a senior consultant for IBM Global Services.
