Ships diverted from Suez terminal

The Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) in Port Said has seen around 50 ships head to other ports outside Egypt during recent weeks following industrial action in the form of increased absenteeism by the work force, resulting in reduced capacity.
For example, Hapag-Lloyd said that because of ongoing congestion at the terminal, it temporarily call Damietta Terminal with its EUM service both westbound and eastbound. Details on affected ships are available here.
APM Terminals, one of the partners in SCCT, said while management and the union agreed on May 2 to a collective bargaining roadmap and meetings have been held, the terminal is seeking formal dispute resolution via the involvement of Egypt’s Ministry of Manpower and Immigration.
