Singapore port volume climbs 10% through three quarters
PSA International said Monday that its flagship container port, Singapore, has handled 10.5 percent more TEUs through the first three quarters of 2008 than it did during the corresponding period in 2007.
Volume for the predominantly transshipment port has grown from 20.1 million TEUs from January through September last year to 22.1 million TEUs through September this year. Singapore was the busiest port in the world in 2007 but is expected to be overtaken soon by hard-charging Shanghai.
