NorthPoint Development announced Wednesday it will lease from Smart Warehousing a distribution center spanning more than 575,000 square feet, Inland Port IV, which is to be built at Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC).
“We are thrilled to be one of the first tenants to establish a distribution center at Logistics Park Kansas City adjacent to the BNSF LPKC Intermodal Facility,” said Smart Warehousing Chief Executive Officer Carl Wasinger. “This move will significantly improve our operating efficiencies by being in a new, state-of-the-art facility and by being very close to one of the nation’s premier intermodal sites, where a portion of our customers’ products are delivered.”
LPKC is a 1,300-acre, master-planned distribution and warehouse development that is anchored by BNSF Railway’s newest intermodal facility, which opened in the fourth quarter of 2013. The new warehouse is the fourth major distribution facility announced for LPKC and will join the new DeLong Grain facility and a new 500,000 speculative warehouse building being constructed at LPKC.
The facility will bring the total square footage at LPKC to more than 1.5 million square feet.
