South Florida terminal picks Tideworks software

Florida International Terminal (FIT) has contracted with Seattle-based Tideworks Technology Inc., a provider of terminal management applications, for software to handle operations at FIT's facility in Port Everglades, Fla.

In the contracted suite of applications, Florida International in particular will be using the latest versions of Tideworks' Mainsail Terminal Management System, for real-time inventory management, and Spinnaker Planning Management System, which integrates terminal operations to reduce vessel turn time. The terminal has found Tideworks' technology to be 'both flexible and scalable,' according to Jose Alberto Diaz, FIT's vice president and general manager.

FIT's terminal handles about 40,000 containers lifts a year, and is expected to increase to 60,000 lifts annually.

The 36-acre facility has access to five berths and five post-Panamax gantry cranes. Customers include CSAV, CCNI, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin, Zim, 'K' Line, MOL and Columbia Coastal.
