SP Express adds textile-focused services

SP Express, a U.S. provider of domestic third-party logistics and fulfillment services, is expanding support for automation of fulfillment and warehouse operations for the textile business.
SP Express said that its goal is to lower costs and increase service levels by offering a platform that was built with the help of textile partners.
The company said it is including textile-appropriate operations such as: including several Measuregraph 564 – 60 inch double and roll machines, allowing textile clients to double and roll and distribute their products out of the same facility; a catch weight processing warehouse management system, which tracks inventory in both yards and bolts; and a vendor compliance management platform that can perform complex labeling and shipping to major retailers.
“Specialty retail distribution is complex, with potentially thousands of direct-to-store shipments to leading trading partners and/or larger consolidated loads to regional distribution centers, shifting schedules, changing demands and cost considerations,” said Robert Castaldo, chief operating officer for SP Express.
Castaldo said the aim for the new textile offering is to provide a specifically tailored system that allows companies to track industry-specific operational metrics, monitor and adjust costs, and have a better understanding of their operations without the need to adjust systems or modify traditional reports.
Textile Creations, a fabric wholesale company specializing in providing for stores and manufacturers, is currently using SP Express for an end-to-end supply chain. The company said that SP Express’ platform has helped it to decrease order time and automate its entire fulfillment and warehouse operations.
