Spot container rates on major trades between Asia and Europe and the United States as measured by the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index fell 7.5 percent from last week to a reading of 622.60.
Spot container rates as measured by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) have dropped from last week’s reading of 673.25 to 622.60. The overall SCFI includes spot rate estimates from Shanghai to a total of 15 regions around the world.
Rates from Shanghai to Northwest Europe fell from $588 per TEU to $456 per TEU.
Rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean fell from $613 per TEU to $448 per TEU.
In addition, rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast ($1,461 per FEU last week) and U.S. East Coast ($2,670 per FEU last week), dropped 5.6 percent and 9.1 percent this week, respectively.
