State Department selects Accenture for global logistics enhancement

The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has tapped Accenture Federal Services to enhance the Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) that provides materials and services to the DOS’ global workforce.
Accenture will be tasked with enhancing the ILMS for the purpose of diplomatic mail services, DOS procurement inventory services, warehouse management, and asset management in the supply chain. The main goal is to increase supply chain efficiency and provider greater visibility of goods for Americans located throughout the world.
The company said the task will include providing support for more than 20,000 system users at 260 embassies and consulates around the world. The ILMS management support will cover fleet management, global inventory optimization and analysis, and warehouse management support.
The State Department also awarded Accenture work for the Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, covering a procurement and delivery system for all domestic and overseas users.
Acenture said its federal division already serves every cabinet-level department and 20 of the larger federal organizations.
