Stokes keynote for Jacksonville port conference
John Stokes, a partner with AIG Highstar Capital, will deliver the keynote address at the Jacksonville Port Authority's 2009 Logistics and Intermodal Conference' on March 17, at Amelia Island Plantation in Amelia Island, Fla.
AIG Highstar Capital, headquartered in New York and part of AIG Investments, is a private equity investment managing more than $4.5 billion of capital commitments from leading institutional investors globally, including in logistics, intermodal, port concessions and operations.
Stokes, who joined Highstar in 2002, also is the interim chief executive officer of HarborCorp, a Highstar company that owns Ports America, AMPORTs and MTC holdings. Ports America is the largest U.S. port terminal operator and stevedore; AMPORTS is a division of Ports America and one of North America's largest vehicle processing businesses; and MTC Holdings is one of the West Coast’s oldest contract stevedore and terminal operating companies. Combined, the three companies constitute the sixth largest terminal operator in the world, and represent about 25 percent of the 2007 North American container market and about 30 percent of the 2006 North American non-OEM auto processing volumes. Stokes is a Board member of all three companies.
