STONIER ADDS WEST COAST TO INTERMODAL INITIATIVE

Stonier Transportation Group, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based freight forwarder and transportation management provider, has expanded its Stonier Rail Connection, its intermodal initiative, to the U.S. West Coast.

'Stonier Rail Connection has added the Southern California/metro New York and New England traffic lane to its intermodal service initiative.

The service, which targets third-party shippers, offers customers a single-source service that includes railhead drayage at origin, premium rail equipment for the long-haul move and railhead drayage at destination. The service uses a single Stonier bill of lading at an all-inclusive price, with shipment tracking and tracing provided.

Launched in February, Stonier Rail Connection initially served four high-density traffic lanes: metro Chicago/Florida; central Indiana and Ohio/Florida; metro New York and New England/Florida; and metro Chicago/metro New York and New England. The service has converted more than 750 loads from over-the-load to the truck/rail/truck alternative, Stonier said.
