SUN MICROSYSTEMS EXTENDS EXEL CONTRACT
Sun Microsystems, Inc., has expanded a multimillion-dollar contract with Exel, a U.K.-based provider of logistics systems, to include warehouse and transportation management services.
Sun asked Exel to manage a more complex supply chain model involving direct factory shipments from suppliers and third-party manufacturing locations, thereby allowing Exel to “concentrate on our core competencies,” said Sonia Syngal, director of customer fulfillment for the Americas, Sun Microsystems.
Exel’s base for its augmented services for Sun is a primary distribution center with a staff of 220 in Fremont, Calif.
