TACA ADDS FUEL SURCHARGE ON INLAND TRANSPORT

The Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement carriers are introducing a 10-percent fuel surcharge on inland transport rates in the United States, effective March 20.

The conference said that the surcharge is due to the continued escalation in U.S. inland transport fuel prices.

TACA said that it will monitor fuel prices on a quarterly basis and make appropriate adjustments.

The Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement is believed to be the first conference to announce a fuel surcharge on inland moves. Most conferences, including TACA, charge a bunker surcharge only on the ocean portion of freight rates.
