Ten trucks participated in NACFE’s Run on Less Regional event, showcasing the fuel efficiency opportunity that awaits regional haul fleets. The trucks achieved an overall 8.3 miles per gallon during the 18-day event, far ahead of the national fleet average of about 6 mpg for regional trucks, Mike Roeth, executive director of NACFE, said.

Ten regional haul fleets will participate in NACFE’s Run on Less Regional challenge to measure fuel efficiency and other metrics in real-world operation.

After remaining flat in 2015-16, the average fleet fuel economy for the nation’s top fleets improved in 2017, according to research conducted by the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE).
