The Port of Tampa said it has been selected as the port of entry for shipments of wing and fuselage assemblies destined for Embraer’s jet assembly plant in Melbourne, Fla.
Assemblies were delivered from Santos, Brazil to Tampa by the Pluto Leader, a roll-on/roll-off ship operated by NYK on Tuesday. That ship operates in NYK’s Gulf Express Service, which began serving Tampa 12 years ago and was expanded last September to now include calls in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras and Guatemala.
The aircraft components, produced in Brazil, will be used in the final assembly of Embraer’s executive jets. – Chris Dupin
