TECHNOLOGY, STAFF COSTS HELP CAUSE CIRCLE’S EARNINGS DROP
Circle International Group reported a net income of $4.8 million in the
second quarter ending June 30, compared to $7.85 million in earnings the
same time last year.
The San Francisco-based company’s profits were reduced by an increase in its
sales force and continued technology investments. Circle’s year 2000 programming expenses
are expected to decline, however, during the second half of the year, said David I
Beatson, chairman, president and chief executive officer for Circle.
Revenues for the second quarter rose 12 percent to $195.2 million.
